So there I was, JRA (Just Riding Along)
I know, it's not going to be a good one. Once again, close encounter with pavement. A very bad habit of mine of placing my hands on the hoods and not wrapping my fingers behind the levers finally caught up with me. I hit a dip in the road and my hands popped off the hoods and my front wheel turned to the right, or maybe it was left, and down I go. Since my right arm is already pretty messed up I sacrificed my elbow and shoulder in place of my face, a pretty good decision looking back on it. The good news is that Brent already has the bike all fixed up and ready to go again. Oh, no that wasn't the good news, the good news is there was 1 chocolate chip cookie left for me when I got home, it was the best cookie I have ever tasted. I will be back on the bike tonight on the trainer as my legs and back are all good. It's that pesky shoulder that is going to take a while to heal.
So if I can prevent this stupid accident from happening to anyone else it is to ALWAYS have your hands in the drops on the downhills and always have fingers wrapped around your bars, not just around the hoods.
Having an open Corona really helps during bandage changes. I will spare everyone the pictures this time as they are not really very impressive compared to Montreal last year, I hope to never out gore that little spill. Damn, isn't Iodine supposed to stop stinging sometime before I finish my beer?
Happy trails!
