The Sun is Shining in California Once Again

Yesterday our house was without power due to a mud slide on the hill behind our house that took out a power pole. Today I started working on my farmers tan as the sun finally decided to shine again. These pictures are from Eureka Canyon in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's a great cycling road with very little traffic and only the occasional rough section and mud slide. I included a picture of some redwood trees about ready to tumble down the hill. Probably not the smartest place for me to stop and take a picture but it was pretty impressive as those trees were huge! My friend and mentor Laura came out with me today and it was one of the best times on the bike that I have had in months. We climbed up Eureka Canyon and went down Old San Jose Road. It's just one of those rides that you find yourself smiling a lot for no particular reason. Laura dropped her vest somewhere around the top of the climb and we pretty much gave up on ever seeing it again. When we pulled into the parking lot where her car was a guy on a bike came up to us and handed her the vest. I am still trying to figure out exactly how he found us and how it was timed so well. He was going the opposite direction that we were and for some reason he met up with us right as we finished. Good karma is the only way we could explain it.
